Program & Activities

Långbans Gruvby offers a lot whether you want to take part in activities or explore the place on your own. The museum’s activities are available during the summer season during opening hours.

Guided Tours

Guided tours of the area every day at . Included in admission.

Sven’s Movie Theatre 

A building that previously housed both a library and the sinter works now houses a movie theatre. Sit down for a while in the darkness and watch what’s currently being shown!

Mineral LAB 

At the reception, you are welcome to borrow sledgehammers, goggles and gloves, and head out by yourself or with the whole family to look for minerals in the old mounds by the lake. In the Mineral LAB, you can examine your finds, and perhaps discover that you have found something completely new! 

Hiking

Short Långban trail
ca 1 km

Go for a walk around the mining village and learn more about the site. Follow the ironsigns, start at the Main Mine.

Long Långban trail
ca 2,3 km

Follow the blue markings to the other side of the road and experience the waste rock heaps, the black beach and some of the old buildings of the mining village. Read more about these in the Värmland’s Museum app, or scan the QR codes for more information. Follow blue posts, start at the Main Mine.

The Tiberg Point
ca 1.2 km

Follow the orange markings around the nature reserve of the Tiberg Point. A walk through an old agricultural landscape with an unusually diverse flora, known particularly for its many orchids. Follow orange posts.
